Updates from Engeye in Uganda
Pictured below is a wonderful garden at the Engeye Health Clinic in Ddegeya Village, Uganda in October 2011. The seeds were sent through an amazing group known as the Engeye Scholars who’s purpose is to help meet the educational needs of children living in and around this Village. We’ve been told that the seeds that did really well at Engeye were: French beans, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, squash and zucchini.

Tekera Resource Centre
Here are photos from our latest seed recipient, the Tekera Resource Centre in Uganda. Thank you to Elaine at Engeye Scholars for passing on the seeds! TRC is a community development project in south west Uganda, on one site they have a level 2 medical clinic; a private primary school with about 400 pupils; a women’s craft club with a micro-loans feature and a community and co-op farm.

Hello friends,
We have been down to Schoharie several times to help flood victims. We have done grunt wotk, delivered donated pet food and helped to serve food to residents and volunteers. It’s all immensely rewarding work. We are also asking our supporters to help. Donations of money or pet food/supples, and /or gift cards are being collected. I am sending out 50+ letters today to past SFP supporters too. The need is great. If any of you want to join us this Saturday in Schoharie let me know! Thanks!!!!

Loss of Pets due to Irene
Seeds for Peace traveled to Esperance NY on September 4th; there we encountered people who lost their homes in the flood. I took the ‘slow chickens at play’ photo to signify the loss of pets in this disaster. We are collecting pet supplies and monetary donations to help the residents and the shelters housing the pets of people who lost their homes in Schoharie County.
